FRIED ONIONS WITH BUTTER, HONEY AND BALSAMIC VINEGAR

INGREDIENTS:

  • 4 onions
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 3 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • bunch of fresh thyme
  • freshly ground black pepper
  • salt

 

METHOD:

Preheat the oven to 200 ̊C. Melt the butter and honey in a small pan, add the vinegar, thyme, salt and pepper, and cook for about a minute on medium heat. Peel and halve the onions. Put the onion halves on a baking tray, pour over the prepared mixture, and roast for about an hour, until the onions are soft and caramelised. We recommend you use a Slovenian honey with the Protected Geographical Indication sign, bought at a local beekeeper’s!
